Cheerleaders from all over Scotland, and south of the border, will be demonstrating their skills and enthusiasm at Braehead Arena on Sunday 18 June. The BCA Scotland Cheerleading Competition continues to grow, prompting the move to Braehead this year. Last year saw 42 teams from 21 clubs, 685 cheerleaders. Excitement about the new venue across the movement is already generating an increased number of enquiries and entries.
Head Judge will Anne Gorman, coming from America for this event. Anne is Owner/Founder Cheer Eruption All-Stars, and NCSSE State Director for West Virginia. She will also be conducting coaches courses and qualifications in Glasgow through the BCA.
Our aim is to make performers feel like Stars in front of the most appreciative audience you could ever wish for, with as many as possible going home with an award to be proud of. All BCA regionals are being upgraded to large high prestige venues to accommodate the explosion of support.
Braehead is the famous international Clydeside sports venue, with 4000 seats and home of the Scottish Rocks basketball team. Situated off J26 of the M8, and just 3 miles from Glasgow International Airport. The Arena is part of Braehead Shopping and Leisure Complex, with 6500 FREE parking spaces and numerous food outlets. 820 buses stop here every day. "Over 25% of Scottish population live within a 20 minute drive time"
The British Cheerleading Association is a registered non profit organization, founded in 1984, with over 300 member clubs comprising more than eleven thousand participants. Cheerleading is a competitive athletic discipline with at least 43 nations involved. |

Cheerleading is a rapidly growing sport and is popular in 43 countries. Coach Anne travels worldwide to share her knowledge of cheer safety, skill progression, and the ethics of coaching with other coaches and cheerleaders. The NCSSE recognized and honored Coach Anne in 2006 as the Rookie of the Year and as the recipient of the Service Award for making the largest contribution towards educating coaches in the US and internationally. Coach Anne has brought quality training to coaches in the US, Canada, Scotland, England and Malaysia. Coach Anne is also a well respected cheer judge. She has been the head judge at Regional and National cheer competitions in England, Wales, Scotland and Malaysia. |

PETALING JAYA: About 200 enthusiastic cheerleaders took part in a fun-filled clinic in preparation for the upcoming Cheer 2007.
The first of the two-day clinic saw 18 teams from the central region receiving tips and safety drills from a panel of professional cheerleaders and instructors.
Present were United States' National Council for Spirit Safety and Education (NCSSE) state directors Anne Marie Gorman, Jill Spearman, Jeni Scherer and NCSSE certified cheerleaders Samantha Gorman and Samantha Callan. |
